On May 5, the Amelia Island Museum of History offers Spring Jail Break, exclusively designed for members of the Museum. This spring’s event will be a day trip to Jekyll Island. Cost is $80 per person for patrons and their guests. Interested members should request to be placed on the list and will receive confirmation of registration one week prior to the trip. Reservations may be made at Phyllis@ameliamuseum.org or 904.261.7378, x.101 and must be received by April 22.
Itinerary is as follows:
9:30 a.m. pick up at the Museum – Amelia Transportation
11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Georgia Sea Turtle Center
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a rehabilitation, research, & educational facility that offers the public a chance to learn about sea turtles & see rehabilitation efforts in action. We will meet the patients, observe the turtle feedings, & take a special behind the scenes tour to get a closer look at the patients & their rehabilitation care. Following the tour we will visit the Gift Shop which has a variety of sea turtle & marine life merchandise.
1:00 p.m. – Lunch at Tortuga Jacks
Tortuga Jacks offers Baja Mexican dining with beachfront views in the heart of Jekyll Island. Enjoy fresh Mexican dishes & the perfect margarita under the only oceanfront tiki on the Georgia coast!
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Landmark Trolley Tour
The Jekyll Island Club members created an exclusive Gilded Age Island retreat for family and friends on this barrier island. Those empire builders shaped our nation’s future, & now we will step into their past. This guided trolley tour of the 240-acre historic district included entry into a historic cottage & admission into the Mosaic Gallery, & Faith Chapel at your leisure.
