Get Your Shrimp On!

‘Tis the weekend of the great Isle of Eight Flags Annual Shrimp Festival, and our mouths are already watering for our favorite shrimp dishes. The following is a fantastic and easy Shrimp and Grits recipe that you can make at home. Happy Shrimp Festival!

Easy Shrimp and Grits


Stone ground yellow grits

8-slices thick cut bacon, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp. Cajun seasoning

3 green onions, sliced

Handful chopped parsley

Lemon wedges


Cook 4-servings grits according to package directions. When grits are nearly done, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels with a slotted spoon; drain, reserving 4 teaspoons drippings. Saute the shrimp, garlic and seasoning in drippings until shrimp turn pink. Stir in reserved bacon; heat through. Serve with grits and sprinkle with onions, parsley, and lemon wedges.
