Festival Finale: American String Quartet & Beth Newdome Fellows

The annual Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival never fails to bring exciting musical talent to our island, and this season has been no different. This year—the festival’s 24th season—concludes on a high note with the annual Christopher Rex String Seminar—a tradition celebrating the next generation of chamber musicians.

Each year, the AICMF welcomes two exceptional young string quartets as their Beth Newdome Fellows, offering them an immersive week of coachings, community outreach, and public performances alongside a world-class professional ensemble.

This season, the festival is hosting the Candide Quartet (The Juilliard School) and Suzie’s Quartet (Vanderbilt University), who will be mentored by the internationally acclaimed American String Quartet.

The three quartets will come together for one concert—the Festival Finale—on June 14, 2025, at 3 PM. The concert will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 2600 Atlantic Avenue. The program includes the first and last movements of Mendelssohn’s String Octet in E-flat major and Schubert’s Quartet No. 14 in D minor, “Death and the Maiden.”

Individual tickets are $20 and may be purchased here: app.arts-people.com/index.php?show=247645

Immediately following the concert, a public reception will be held at the home of Ann and Hugh Williams (1415 Atlantic Ave.), where we will announce the Festival’s highly anticipated 25th Anniversary! If you plan to attend, guests may be dropped off in front of the home. Parking is available on Atlantic Avenue, one block east of the home.
