This Christmas, make a memory with your loved ones! Take a journey back to the first century and witness the birth of Jesus. An Evening in December offers a family-friendly outdoor experience bringing the first Christmas to life. Follow your story-telling guide, and listen in as the angel tells young Mary she’s going to be a mother, join the surprised shepherds in the field as angels announce the Messiah’s birth, feel the tenderness of Joseph and Mary in the stable as baby Jesus is born. You become personally involved in the story as you take an experiential journey of the Biblical nativity, presented on a series of 5 stages. The 27h Annual Evening in December event includes the outdoor drama plus an inspirational choral presentation of the Christmas story in the comfort of our sanctuary. And no pilgrimage to the first century would be complete without a visit to our “Bethlehem” village.
Roman soldiers oversee the peaceful Middle Eastern shopkeepers peddling their wares, a Rabbi teaching in the synagogue, the greedy tax collector, and the overflowing inn. And of course, there are also furry and feathered friends in the village, available for petting.
Amelia Baptist Church is excited to offer “An Evening in December” as our Christmas gift to the community. We invite young and old to join us Saturday and Sunday, December 1st & 2nd. Tickets are free, but reservations are necessary. Go online and choose the specific date and time for your group at www.EveninginDecember2023.eventbrite.com.
The adventure begins when you park at Peters Point Beachfront Park and are escorted back in time to the church in one of our shuttles. There is no on-site or on-street parking available at or near the church, with the exception of guests having disabled parking permits. Vehicles displaying handicap permits will be escorted onto the campus. We also have a golf cart available for those who may have difficulty walking through our outdoor drama.
Amelia Baptist Church is located at 961167 Buccaneer Trail, in Fernandina Beach, at the roundabout connecting South Fletcher Ave. and First Coast Highway near Harris Teeter.
