Amelia Island Bird Club Announces Fall Birding Trips

This bird season the Club will offer a total of 15 different trips. Nine field trips will be local, three will be out of our area and three will be offered in conjunction with Duval Audubon or Talbot Island State Park Tidewater celebration. Each trip is designed to match migration or different habitats that host a diversity of species. I will provide 2 notices for each trip that give directions and time plus a reminder notice. The following is the schedule with locations and expected highlights:

September 23, 2023 Saturday Talbot State Park Tidewater Celebration at the Ribault Club, Ft. George Island-Theresa Hartz and I will lead bird hikes to see migrating warblers and vireos.

September 30, 2023 Saturday at Heritage River Road and Joe Carlucci Boat Ramp-we expect to see shorebirds in migration and many Spoonbills.

October 7, 2023 Saturday at Goffinsville Boat Ramp and Holly Point boat ramp-we will see herons, egrets, gulls, terns, spoonbills and migrating warblers.

October 14, 2023 Saturday at Katherine Hanna Park in Jacksonville with Duval Audubon-this spot is excellent for migrating warblers.

November 11, 2023 Saturday at Wildlight trails and boardwalk-this is a new spot that we will explore for species wintering in our area.

December 9, 2023 Saturday at Huguenot Memorial Park-a great time of year to find wintering gulls, terns, Purple Sandpipers and Lapland Longspurs and even Ash-throated Flycatchers.
