Apr 26, 2019 02:00AM
On May 15 at 8:30 a.m. arrangements have been made with Okefenokee Swamp Park for an exciting combination Boat/Train/Eye on Nature tours, hosted by the newest women’s group, Women of Nassau.

Boat Tour (45 minutes) - Get aboard this unique and one-of-a-kind guided boat tour into the Okefenokee Swamp.  Your journey will take you down original Seminole Indian waterways, allowing the opportunity to see native plants and wildlife.

“The Lady Suwannee” the Okefenokee Railroad - The train tour will take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Many points of interest will be featured on your journey including a stop at Pioneer Island which is rich in history (will be one of the main attractions of the tour). The 1.5 mile railroad system at the Okefenokee Swamp Park serves as a mode of transportation for the park, circling part of the Great Okefenokee Swamp. The railroad track was completed in January of 1999 and train tours began in the Spring of 1999.

“Eye on Nature” - This is an educational opportunity of a lifetime. Participants will learn more about the native animals of the Okefenokee Swamp during a 20-25 minute program designed for all ages. This is the only Okefenokee Swamp Program available on a year round basis.

This tour will last approximately 2-1/2 hours so please wear comfortable footwear and bring a poncho/rain gear as the tour is rain or shine, along with bug spray, water, and sunscreen. Cost is $24. For more information or to RSVP contact Donna Williams at [email protected]
