15th Annual Katie Ride for Life on April 13

Mar 25, 2019 02:00AM
Grab your favorite cycling, running, walking and swimming pals and join the 15th Annual Katie Ride, benefiting the Katie Caples Foundation’s organ donor awareness, education, and registration programs.

The Katie Ride takes place on Amelia Island beginning at 7 a.m. at the Atlantic Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Avenue, with routes covering 18 to 63 MILE courses, a WALK, FUN RUN and a FUN TRIATHLON. Routes include majestic state parks, ecological preserves, and offer 40 miles of stunning coastal views.

Nearly 120,000 adults and children in the United States are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. On average, 22 people will die each day in the United States due to a lack of available organs for transplant. And while 95% of Americans say they support organ donation, less than 54% are currently registered. Funds raised through this event support the Katie Caples Foundation and its mission to increase the number of registered organ donors to eliminate the wait for individuals on the national transplant list.
