Nassau Humane Society Fundraiser

Sep 26, 2018 02:00AM
A fundraising event will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, to benefit the Nassau County Humane Society.

This event is honor of Taylor Michelle Overby, who passed away in February this year after a battle with colon cancer. Overby was an animal lover and believed strongly in the rescue efforts of humane societies. Much of her family is from Nassau County and this event is to honor her memory.

The event will begin with a breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sandollar Restaurant and Marina, located at 9716 Hecksher Drive in Jacksonville. Prepaid breakfast tickets can be purchased at the restaurant for $10 each prior to the event. The breakfast is open to the public whether those attending will be riding later in the day or not. Dogs are also welcome.

A riding competition will take place after breakfast with horses versus motorcycles. Horse riders can join the trail ride from Nassau Sound down the beach to Fernandina Beach and back. Riders are required to pay an entrance fee of $200 per horse and can be sponsored or donate themselves. Motorcycle riders will be asked to pay a $20 fee per bike and will leave from the Sandollar and ride to Reni’s On The River (formerly Reni’s Redneck Yacht Club) on U.S. 17 with stops along the way.

You can prepay your entry fee using this link: or go to the event “Tail It for Tay Tay” on Facebook for much more information.
