Got oyster shells?

Artist and marine biologist Lauri Holton DeGaris is creating an art installation at Main Beach of a full size Right Whale on December 30, and needs thousands of these shells to complete her project. Her sculpture is designed to bring awareness to the Right Whale, an endangered species that comes to the warm waters of Northeast Florida in December to give birth.

DeGaris is asking members of the community to collect oyster shells on the beach for the next few days and bring to Main Beach between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on December 30.
