Bridget Lampson has collecting in her DNA. Her English father, who had been Salvador Dali’s neighbor in Spain before becoming an actor in Los Angeles, along with her equally well-traveled mother, collected antiques from England and the American Southwest. As a child, Bridget spent happy hours finding buried treasures in Mine Hill Preserve in Connecticut. So when Bridget decided to open a retail store on the island, she filled the shop (aptly named Mine Hill Trading) with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern finds. The collection of furnishings, accessories, linens, lighting, and gifts have been carefully curated in a palette of neutrals, all with a sophisticated, yet laid-back style. “For many years, I was an antiques dealer in malls around the area, but I always dreamed of having my own store,” says Bridget. “When the Amelia Island Antiques building became available, I felt it could be the perfect location.” While Bridget’s husband, Ken, renovated the building, she searched far and wide for unique goods. Mine Hill Trading opened in March to rave reviews, immediately attracting dozens of repeat customers. The look is coastal, casual, and chic. Customers often come in with one specific item in mind, but then decide to work with Bridget and her staff on redecorating their entire home. “People love the fresh look we offer,” says Bridget. “And you can find special items for every budget.” Visit Mine Hill Trading Company on Facebook and Instagram.
