Drums are Fun Summer Camp

Join Les DeMerle, world-renowned drummer and artistic director of the Amelia Island Jazz Festival, along with the City of Fernandina Beach, for “Drums are Fun” Summer Camp. Open to everyone from kids to seniors, Drums are Fun will teach the basics of rhythm needed to play drums correctly, and inspire you to become a good musician!

Lessons will include how to hold drumstick properly, how to count rhythms, create a groove with a steady beat, drum rudiments, and how to play various styles like Jazz, Rock, Latin, Big Band, and Show Music. The classes will be held July 5, 12, 19, and 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Peck Center, located at 516 South 10th Street. Classes are $80 for all four sessions, or $25 per class.
