Amelia Islander

Seaside Sculpture Unveiling

May 22, 2017 07:39AM
The Amelia Island Tourist Development Council has commissioned five artists to create outdoor public art as a complement to the Island's "Leave No Trace" Ordinance. Each artist was required to use a minimum of 20% re-purposed debris (both man-made and naturally occurring) within their sculpture. This temporary installation will take place mid-May and will run through May 2018. This event will allow the public to learn more about why the Leave No Trace ordinance was created and how the Amelia Island Tourism Development Council markets this information to visitors and residents.

Amelia Island Sea Turtle Watch, Wild Amelia, Kayak Amelia, and Amelia River Cruises will have touch tables and information on coastal animals, as well as provide information on how to enjoy our Island and be good stewards of our environment. New gallery owners, Fern & Dina's will provide a re-purposed material activity for kids of all ages, and light refreshments will be provided.
