Cummer Amelia Holds Garden Walk

Mar 10, 2017 02:00AM
On Friday, April 7, Cummer Amelia is hosting its third Garden Walk at Omni Amelia Island Plantation from 1 to 4 p.m. Cummer Amelia is an affinity group for the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Jacksonville, whose purpose is to support the museum’s programs and to bring awareness of fine art to the people of Nassau County. Cummer Amelia sponsors programs about the arts, gardening, special exhibits, and activities at the Cummer.

The main project of Cummer Amelia is to raise funds to send all third graders in Nassau County to the Cummer for a special day of art enrichment. For most of the children it is their first introduction to fine art, formal gardens, and museums in general.

The event begins with a tour and talk by Omni chef Daven Wardynski at the Omni Hydroponic Greenhouse. Four Amelia Island Plantation homeowners are opening their yards to allow visitors to tour their gardens. Special events will be held at each home. A Master Gardener will be on site at each home to answer questions about gardening in Florida. Cost is $20 for Cummer members and $30 for non-members.
