Dec 28, 2016 02:00AM
At Anastasia, there are many recreational activities to enjoy including hiking, swimming, beachcombing, bird watching, and much more. The campground contains 139 campsites all located within the beautiful maritime hammock and just a short walk or bike ride from the beach.
Anastasia has concessions to provide guests with rental opportunities of bicycles, paddleboards, kayaks, sail boats and canoes. There is also a grill area and a small gift shop for visitors to take home an Anastasia memory. The grill location also provides Wi-Fi for visitors' use.
On January 3 join a park volunteer on the monthly guided bird walk. The winter can bring in some less common species. January 9th is Music in the Park, a lively event for the whole family to enjoy local music and entertainment. On January 19 a park volunteer will offer a walk on the wild side, where you will go off the beaten path to learn about the plants and animals which call Anastasia State Park their home. Anastasia is always seeking the aid of volunteers, but in particular they are need of the following volunteer assignments: special events, ranger station, interpretive programs, and photography. They are also offering two spring semester internships, for those seeking college credit. Please contact Renee Market at [email protected] or (904) 461-2035 if you are interested.
Do not forget that 100 volunteer hours will get you a free annual pass into Anastasia State Park and 500 volunteer hours will get you a free annual pass good for all of the Florida State Parks. For more information call (904) 461-2033 or visit https://www.floridastateparks.org/park/Anastasia.
