Barnabas Empty Bowls Luncheon

Oct 31, 2016 02:00AM
An empty bowl is the symbol of hunger. In support of our neighbors coping with food insecurity, Barnabas will host its third annual Empty Bowls luncheon on November 14th, to raise funds to combat hunger and crisis in Nassau County. Local restaurants will donate a simple meal of soup and bread, volunteers will serve guests and prominent speakers will provide information and hope. The luncheon will be held at the Atlantic Recreation Center, 2600 Atlantic Avenue.

In addition, each guest will choose from over 1,000 handcrafted bowls to find their favorite to take home. Potters, students, and senior citizens throughout the area have been creating original ceramic bowls so that each attendee can have a permanent reminder of the many bowls we still need to fill in order to provide nourishment to the hungry in Nassau County.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and the luncheon begins at noon. To purchase tickets ($30) visit www.barnabasnassau.org.
