Rescheduled Fort Clinch Free Kids Fishing Clinic
Jun 06, 2016 02:00AM
Due to unfavorably forecasted weather conditions and chances of lightning through Saturday evening, the Fort Clinch State Park Fishing Clinic originally scheduled for Saturday, May 21 has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 11th from 9 a.m. until noon. According to Park Manager, Ben Faure, “this decision was made to ensure the safety of the participants, volunteers and staff”. The rescheduled event will include all activities originally planned. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Fort Clinch State Park is partnering with Fish Florida, The Friends of Fort Clinch, Inc., and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission to conduct a Kids’ Fishing Clinic on Saturday, June 11, 2016 to teach lessons on knot tying, fishing ethics, tackle, habitat, casting and more. The event also provides an opportunity for children to learn about Florida’s marine ecosystems. The clinic is open to children ages 5-15 and will be held on the Atlantic Fishing Pier at Fort Clinch State Park. The first 400 kids will take home their own rod and reel combo provided by Fish Florida through their sailfish license plate funding. A free hot dog lunch will be provided to every participant. Bring the whole family to enjoy a fun day of saltwater fishing. For additional information, please contact the park at (904) 277-7274 or visit www.floridastateparks.org.
