CD Release Party at Horizons

Apr 11, 2016 02:00AM
The Dynamic Les DeMerle Band, featuring vocalist Bonnie Eisele will celebrate the release of their latest CD, “Comin’ Home Baby,” at Horizons Restaurant on Amelia Island, Friday, April 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Captured live in the jazz room of the Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Ship while sailing the Baltics, "Comin' Home Baby" is the Band's ninth recording for Origin Records. Alongside DeMerle's fiery drumming are his and Eisele's equally dynamic vocals, as they perform classics such as "Steppin' Out With My Baby," "Learnin' The Blues," "Day In - Day Out," "High Fly," and many more. The new album also showcases two excellent sidemen, Johannes Bjerregaard on piano, and bassist Chris Luard. According to the Newport Jazz Festival’s founder, George Wein, “after hearing this quartet live for 12 nights with Les' tight group and the wonderful vocals of Bonnie Eisele, I can honestly say that I am truly a fan.”

“This CD is dedicated to one of my dearest friends and strongest mentors in Jazz, the great Frank Foster,” said DeMerle. “He was Count Basie’s dynamite tenor sax player and arranger for many years, and he played on my first Jazz record, ‘Spectrum,’ on the United Artists label. We had a ball making it.”

Accompanying DeMerle and Eisele at the Horizons program will be Dennis Marks on bass, and pianist Doug Matthews. “We plan to rip it up for this party and look forward to seeing our many friends on the island there.” Horizons will be offering their regular menu for the event. There is a $20 music cover charge; the band will play three show sets from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, please go to http://www.lesdemerlemusic.com. Horizons is located at 5472 First Coast Highway.
