Denise Roberts Scheffer always knew she would become an accountant. She loved numbers and business, and she had a knack for tax and financial matters. When she decided to become a certified public accountant, she opened an office in Jacksonville, where she lived with her husband, Bob. However, the couple’s love for Fernandina Beach eventually caused Denise to close up shop there, and the Scheffers moved to Amelia Island full-time in 1989. Denise’s accounting firm, located at Gateway to Amelia, offers full tax and accounting services for businesses and individuals, including tax returns, audits, payroll, business planning, and more. “Our primary goal as a trusted advisor is to be available to provide insightful advice to enable our clients to make informed financial decisions,” says Denise. “We feel it’s extremely important to continually professionally educate ourselves to improve our technical expertise, financial knowledge, and service to our clients.” Despite all her hard work, Denise and Bob are avid travelers, visiting Europe, Africa, and beyond. The couple also found time to renovate the Waas house in the historic district. Denise is fascinated with the history of the house, and she and her husband enjoy entertaining at home. How does she do it all? “My firm prides itself on professionalism, responsiveness, and quality,” says Denise. “We have a great staff, and I have a good balance between my work and my personal life.” For more information, call (904) 277-6572 or visit www.deniserobertscpa.com.
