Connecting Lines with Drawing Techniques at Island Art Association

Jan 01, 2016 02:00AM
Come on out and bring a friend to Island Art Association’s drawing class, on Tuesdays, January 5, 12, 19, 26, and February 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. Lori Ann is offering an innovative and fun filled Tuesday morning drawing class for both beginners to advanced students, helping students discovers their inner creativity in a relaxed environment. The hands-on projects and instructor demonstrations will be instrumental in developing drawings skills. The projects are geared for both beginners and advanced drawers who wish to refine their skills.

Lori Ann has been drawing and painting since her early childhood on Long Island, New York. Her passion and drive earned her both MFA & BFA degrees from the School of Visual Arts, in New York city. Immediately after graduation, she started a 22-year career instructing visual arts at College level, and grades 6 through 12. While teaching she followed her dreams and illustrated books. The industry of illustration began to slowly evolve into computer generated artwork and because she is a traditional artist trained in classical mannerism, Lori turned away from illustration and began a business predominantly of commissions, drawing portraits of people, homes, and businesses. Her artwork is a reflection of her life. Each location and life experience become an intimate part of her artwork.

Lori Ann’s students will be able to personalize their work while having a relaxing and enjoyable morning out. The classes will cover rendering tones and values, shadowing, blending colors, techniques with a variety of lines, watercolor washes, and using pastels. A session using natural dyes and painting in Asian style will be included. This class is on a first-come first-served basis with limited spaces. Cost for the classes is $195 and a $50 deposit is required. For more information or to register, contact Lori at [email protected] or call (570) 905-5765.
