In 2005, Ness Sala began selling insurance when the Medicare Modernization Act of 2004 and Medicare Advantage Plans began offering new options for seniors. But when a friend in the business suggested he train new insurance agents, Ness knew that’s what he was cut out to do. “My wife, Kristi, and I train agents on the different plans offered from United Healthcare, Humana, Aetna, and others,” says Ness. He has now trained over four hundred agents from all over the country. “But we started off small,” says Ness. “Kristi and I began our business at our dining room table!” As the business grew, the couple moved into an office on Sadler Road, which allowed them to offer plans directly to consumers. When they needed more room to meet the growing demand from clients here on Amelia Island, they purchased the former Barnabas Center building on So. 11th Street. Ness and Kristi knew they were committed to their work when they spent part of their honeymoon in a tent in Kenya, processing insurance forms. “We were on a deadline,” laughs Ness. “So we had to fit work into our honeymoon trip.” Compass Group Insurance opened in 2008, and they are the only agency in the area whose primary focus is Medicare and health insurance. “We have a close relationship with our employees, our clients, the insurance companies, and physicians,” says Ness. “We’re able to give our customers more options. Chances are, no matter what your situation or budget, we can find a Medicare or health plan that works for you.” For more information, call (904) 746-4648 or visit www.compassgroupinsurance.com.
