Volunteer Masons Needed at Fort Clinch

Nov 04, 2015 02:00AM
Fort Clinch staff and volunteers regularly maintain the historic character of Fort Clinch by doing repair projects such as trimming, carpentry, and cleaning. One area of maintenance that needs significant help and requires a special skill is repair of the brickwork throughout the fort. The park needs volunteer brick masons who are willing to be trained and work alongside a park employee who is a master mason.

Volunteers can serve as few as four hours per week or more as desired. Volunteers would be involved in restoring the brickwork around the fort including mortar joints, repairing missing brickwork, cleaning brick surfaces, and other similar maintenance tasks that require the skills of a mason. To volunteer, visit www.floridastateparks.org/get-involved/volunteer, or contact the park at (904) 277-7274.
