New Gallery Opening Soon

Artist Susi Sax was walking down South 8th Street with a friend one day when she spied a magnificent oak tree. She was told the oak was at least 400 years ago, and she felt a fondness for its beauty and history. Sax discovered that the buildings on the property were for rent, and that’s when her idea for Oak Tree Gallery was formed.

The building had originally been a gun shop, uninteresting at best, but Sax had a vision. “So I took this old gun shop, painted out the old, drab look with color,” she said. “I added pavers and a new fence, and a garden area. The space will soon be the new home of Oak Tree Gallery!” Sax’s plan includes a full working-artist studio, along with retail gallery space for local and visiting artists, theme shows, special art classes, and painting classes.

Work on the building is nearly done, and Sax hopes to open in early November. For more information visit the Oak Tree Gallery’s Facebook page, or email Sax at [email protected]
