In 1957, Joyce and Nesbert Crawford opened their first jewelry store in Blackshear, Georgia. Starting with only two showcases and a determination to succeed, the couple operated their successful business for 20 years, expanding with another store in Waycross. That store supported three Crawford families, which included two Crawford sons, Bruce and Gary, along with Gary’s wife, Kathy, and their sons, Lance and Ryan. In 1985, Gary and Kathy Crawford opened another store in Douglas, where they provided excellent customer service and quality for 29 years. In 2011, their son Ryan decided to come on board the family business. “I decided to continue what my grandfather had built and go to work with my father as a third generation jeweler in the Douglas store, where I became a Gemological Institute of America graduate,” says Ryan. “This also provided the opportunity for further growth.” In May 2014, Crawford Jewelers opened a store on Amelia Island, next to Starbucks on Sadler Road, with Gary, Kathy, and Ryan providing excellent customer care, quality jewelry, in-store repair, plus diamond-setting, remounting, and customizations. “At Crawford Jewelers, we have provided 57 years of service as a family in the jewelry business, thanks to the greatest customers anyone could hope for,” says Ryan. “With three locations in Douglas, Waycross, and Fernandina Beach, our goal is to continue to provide style, quality, value, and an overall wonderful experience every time a customer comes to see us.” For more information, call (904) 277-4910 or visit
