Sounds on Centre on August 7

Aug 03, 2015 02:27AM
Sounds on Centre is a free event, fun for the entire family! Concerts are on First Fridays from April through October, excluding May to enjoy the Shrimp Festival. Sounds on Centre is located at the intersection of Second Street and Centre Street in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach Florida. Shows are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sounds on Centre T-shirts will be available for purchase. Raffle drawings will be held throughout the event with prizes donated by local community businesses and retailers. All proceeds go to advertising efforts of the organization.

Friday’s concert features Island Vibe, a five piece music group featuring three distinctive lead vocalists and 3-5 part harmonies. The very diverse music repertoire covers tunes from the 20’s to current including timeless classics from Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Dolly Parton, Ray Charles, Andy Williams to Bob Seger, Moody Blues, Billy Joel, Leeanne Womack, and Jason Mraz.

The band has been a long time in the making because of individual time constraints, but finally started coming together in the fall of last year. The members are well known in the local community of Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach, and Yulee, with combined stage experience of well over 100 years as musician artists. The joke is that the band’s initial name was suggested as Four Old Guys and a Blond Chick (FOGBC). Expect some vocal harmony magic! For more information visit www.soundsoncentre.com.
