Ron Jacobson was born to be in the shoe business. His grandfather owned a department store in Waycross, Georgia, and when Ron was old enough to work on the floor, his grandfather sent him to work in the men’s clothing department. But Ron always ended up in the women’s shoe department. “I love shoes,” says Ron. “There’s something about the design aspect of women’s shoes that fascinates me!” Ron went on to work in the shoe business for thirty years, before opening his two Shoe Visions shops here on Amelia Island. “My wife Montez and I used to come to Amelia Island on vacation,” says Ron. “We loved it so much we decided to move here permanently and open our two stores, one at Amelia Island Plantation, and one in downtown Fernandina Beach.” He feels that Shoe Visions fills a niche by providing shoe designs that are extremely fashionable, but also comfortable. He and Montez carry shoes for women of every age, including many styles you can’t find anywhere else. Their most popular brands include Naot, Donald Pliner, Arche, and Vanelli, along with handmade women’s bags and other accessories. “Our customers want to look good, but they also want comfort,” says Ron. “The thing I love the most is when a customer comes in and tells me that the shoes they bought here turned out to be their very favorite. That’s most gratifying. And life is too short to wear boring shoes, don’t you think?” For more information, visit www.shoevisions.com or call them at (904)277-0909 or (904) 491-1245.
