Yin Yang Master Class at Centred on Yoga

Apr 01, 2015 02:00AM
On Saturday, April 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Dennis and Kathy Lang will present a special Yin Yang Master Class. This practice will focus on building heat (Yang energy) using Mindful Vinyasa flow, leading into long held, floor based postures (Yin energy) to balance the polarities of the body. The Langs are co-teachers who discovered yoga in 2000, which lead to completing their RYT in 2009, and 500 hours of yoga training in 2012 at the Asheville Yoga Center in Asheville, North Carolina, as well as attending many national workshops. “We have integrated sound and vibration with yoga, as a healing and meditation modality with crystal bowls, Spanish guitar, and gong,” says Dennis. “We have traveled extensively to over 30 countries providing us with much cultural exposure and inspiration.”lang music

“We are not tied to any one tradition and not restricted in our teaching, as we love them all,” says Kathy. “We believe that you can only teach that which you actually practice and experience. One cannot simply read and theorize; one must practice and take that practice inward to experience the multiple layers and terrain of oneself.” The Langs integrate their studies of the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, The Upanishads, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, as well as other sources. They consider themselves guides or facilitators of an experience rather than teachers.

“We want to share the potential of yoga as it was shared with us,” says Dennis. “Our teaching style is best described as Mindful Vinyasa Flow with an emphasis on intelligent movement, stabilized and aligned postures, balance, and a touch of Yin Yoga. Our practice is guided by our knowledge of the yogic model of the body, Chakras, the philosophies of Yin and Yang and the subtle layers.” For more information visit or
