Winter Wonderland at Omni Amelia Island Plantation

Nov 21, 2014 02:00AM
Omni Amelia Island Plantation presents a holiday experience like never before with family-friendly celebrations including a Festival of Trees and transformation of the The Shops at Amelia Island Plantation into a winter wonderland. The resort will feature Santa’s Workshop and daily activities ranging from Segway demos to eggnog making and snow globe crafting.

Festivities begin right after Thanksgiving with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Shops. A beloved tradition, the event benefits Take Stock in Children and features Santa Claus himself. The Winter Wonderland will be unveiled featuring stilt walkers, rides on the Polar Express, a bounce house, pirate ship, Tanner the Turtle, and Frosty the Snowman.

The Festival of Trees is a way that visitors can have the opportunity to give back to 15 local charities by voting for their favorite decorated Christmas tree, decorated by Amelia Island non-profit organizations. The trees will be on display through December 31. The tree that raises the most will be crowned the winner with the charities receiving 100 percent of the donations.

Santa’s Workshop offers ever-changing daily delights from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be live music, festive falling snow, craft stations, animal encounters, archery demos, gingerbread decorating, chocolate bark making, and more. For folks visiting from out-of-town, the resort is offering a Winter Wonderland Package including luxury oceanfront accommodations, daily breakfast at the Sunrise Café, and more, throughout the month of December.
