This recipe comes from one of our readers, Arturo Cole-Escutia, a former vendor from the Fernandina Beach Farmers Market. He and his partner Mike Garza, sold his specialty jams at the market until the two transferred to Dallas, TX for Arturo’s new job. This appetizer cheese ball can be prepped in just minutes and molded in seconds. Arturo uses his own homemade pepper jelly, but you can use store bought.
Arturo says, “I just put 4 slices of ham on the mini food processor and chopped it real fine. Mix it with a block of cream cheese at room temperature on a bowl with a fork. I added a half teaspoon of onion powder. Covered a bowl with plastic wrap, put the mixture in, wrap it and put it in the fridge for an hour or so until it harden a bit, take it out from the fridge, hand molded it into a skull, put a couple of olives as eyes and slivered almond as teeth, put it on the plate and pour a jar of my own signature pepper jelly.”
