October Friends of the Library Events

Sep 29, 2014 02:00AM
Fernandina Beach’s growing population has put a strain on critical library resources. The current, 35-year-old, cramped, energy-inefficient building can no longer handle the explosion in library use, holdings, and technology that has occurred over the past three decades. Because of the support of citizens and the Friends of the Library, the Fernandina Beach Library new construction is well underway. Grab your friends and neighbors and plan to attend one or both of these October Library events.

October 4: Self Defense Workshop. Highly experienced black belt aikido and personal security expert and trainer, Dan Kelly, will host a special workshop from 9am to noon at the Atlantic Recreation Center, 2500 Atlantic Avenue. Pre-registration with a donation of $20 or more to the Friends of the Library is required. Thanks to Dan's generosity, 100% of each donation will help purchase new furniture and equipment for the improved Library that will open next spring.

October 25: Pony Up and Party at Littleberry Farm. Horse show with several world champions, a horseback riding trick dog, barbeque dinner, games, music, dancing and auction items just minutes west of Amelia Island.

For more information and tickets to these benefits for Friends of the Library, visit the Library at 25 North 4th St., Fernandina Beach, or visit their web site at fernandinaFOL.org.
