Nassau Health Foods Offers Cooking Classes

On July 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. Nassau Health Foods is offering an interactive demonstration cooking class at its Mustard Seed Café, located inside the store. Hosted by Chef Bill Thompson of the Amelia Island Culinary Academy, participants will be made to feel as if they are part of a live cooking show. The group will concentrate on modern Middle Eastern cooking, including Organic Carrot Hummus with Dukah Spiced Whole Wheat Pita, Baby Kale and Watercress Salad with Pomegranate Vinaigrette, and Crispy Fried Chickpeas with Mint and Preserved Organic Lemons.

About the Chef:

Chef Bill Thompson loves to cook and has fun when he's cooking. His hands-on classes demonstrate basic and advanced culinary skills, increase student's self-confidence, and make you laugh! After receiving his B.A. from West Virginia University with a major in Political Science Chef Thompson graduated from Johnson & Wales University with an A.O.S. in Culinary Arts. Chef Thompson's experience includes small independent restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina before joining the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner culinary team.

After 8 years with the Tysons Ritz, Chef Thompson relocated to Amelia Island and spent another 2 years with the company. Since 2008, Chef Thompson has been training future professional chefs at the Art Institute of Jacksonville. Cooking is his passion and teaching is his pleasure. Classes with Chef Thompson always both educate and entertain.
