Who doesn’t want enjoy the water on a lovely, sunny day? That’s the idea behind Amelia Boat Club (formerly Suntex Boat Club), which was formed nearly five years ago by National Director Monty Kitchen. Folks who love the water and love boating don’t always enjoy the work that goes along with owning a boat, but the only concern for boat club members is simply to enjoy boating with family and friends. All the fun of boating with none of the hassles!

Monty and his wife visited Amelia Island when they opened this location in Spring 2013 (four other locations include three in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and one in Atlanta) and fell in love with the island. A few months later, they moved to Amelia from Dallas. Unlike the big-city life they were used to, the island was a breath of fresh air. “We’ve met so many people since we moved here,” says Monty. “The boat club is a great opportunity to meet fellow boaters. Membership includes boat safety classes, fishing clinics, and other social events provided throughout the year.”

Members pay a one-time initiation fee and then a monthly fee, which enables them to use any of the Suntex boats. “We have something for everyone here,” says Monty. “With the boat club, the only decision you have to make is what type of boat you want for the day. And tomorrow, your boat can be something different!” In addition, Suntex’s sister company, Amelia Watersports, offers daily boat and wave runner rentals.
