Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival Presents WinterFest

Want a sure cure for beating the post-holiday winter blues? Warm up at WinterFest 2014, a very special five-concert series featuring a dazzling array of internationally renowned artists. The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival’s five extraordinary concerts run from January 27 to March 2 at various venues around the island. On January 27, pianist Natasha Paremski will perform Chopin’s Ballade and Piano Concerto No. 2 and Franck’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, in a concert entitled Chopin and Paris. On February 9 the Vega String Quartet presents Beer & G-Strings I: “It Takes a Thief!” at Slider’s Seaside Grill. The Vega, which will perform works of Beethoven, Schubert and Mendelssohn, is on the cutting edge of a new generation of chamber music ensembles. On February 11, trumpeter Brandon Ridenour and pianist Rich Ridenour will perform Chamber Pops I: Trumpet Invasion, at Amelia Baptist Church. The father and son team will perform light classical works by such masters as Gershwin, Rossini, and Bernstein. On February 15, enjoy Romantic Virtuosi: From France to Russia with violinist Chee-Yun, cellist Andres Diaz and pianist Wendy Chen, at Amelia Plantation Chapel. This trio of Amelia Island favorites will perform works of Saint-Saens and the monumental Piano Trio in A-minor by Tchaikovsky. And lastly on March 2, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet presents The Magic of Debussy – the Flamboyance of Thibaudet at Amelia Plantation Chapel. One of today’s most sought-after soloists, Jean-Yves Thibaudet has the rare ability to combine poetic musical sensibilities with dazzling technical prowess.
