Most of us are familiar with paint by numbers, yes? A great craft for those of us with limited creative ability. Think about kicking paint by numbers up a notch, and you’ve got Wine & Design, a new craze being enjoyed across the country right now. And on November 8, you can paint to your heart’s content at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, while hanging out with your friends and enjoying a glass of wine. Here’s how it works:

You will be provided with a stretched canvas with a sketchy drawing of the painting you are to complete under directions of the resident artist, Andrea Lasserre. You may be replicating a well-known painting, or expressing the ideas and concepts of the residing artist. The directions for your painting actions will be suggested by the artist. For example, you might be requested to partially mix some yellow and orange paint and then apply it to the canvas for the flower petals, and using the light green paint, paint the stem and leaves, etc. Or you may be requested to choose your own colors. This is a painting experience for those who have always wanted to paint, but were afraid to try! Everyone in the class will be completing the same picture; however you will be amazed at the results, each new artist brings his or her own touch to the finished canvas.

To register, call Rich Smith at (904) 261-4293 ext. 13. Cost of instruction and materials is $35. Bring a bottle of your favorite wine; glasses are provided. Wine & Design will be held on Friday, November 8 at 6 p.m. in Burns Hall.
