Susi Sax at Seventh Street Gallery
Jul 08, 2013 02:00AM
Sax has come full circle, in more ways than one. Lately drawn to the simplicity of the fundamental line, she has been bending it into an unbroken sweep of a curve, meeting itself where it began. She first tried the circle theme at age five when, with scissors in hand, she cut round holes in her grandmother’s sheer curtains.
Susi is not timid when it comes to trying something new. Painting on silk is a new medium and colors she has chosen reflect the last year spent sailing the Bahamas. The diaphanous silk of Sax’s wearable art envelops one like a tropical breeze.
The reception is Saturday, July 13, from 5 to 8 pm at the Seventh Street Gallery, at 14 South Seventh Street (across from Lulu’s) in downtown Fernandina. The show can be viewed the following two Saturdays during Farmers’ Market hours 9 to 1 pm. As this is a historic property, it is not handicap accessible. For questions, directions, and additional viewing times, please call (904) 432-8330.
