American Flag Cake
Ingredients 4 cups strawberries, divided 1 ½ cup boiling water 2 pkgs. red Jello (3oz. size) Ice cubes 1 pkg. prepared pound cake, cut into 10 slices 1 1/3 cup fresh blueberries 1 tub Cool Whip (8 oz. size)
Preparation Slice 1 cup strawberries, and cut the remaining in half. Add boiling water to gelatin in a large bowl. Stir 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 2 cups. Add to gelatin and stir until ice is melted. Refrigerate for 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Meanwhile, cover the bottom of a 9X13 glass baking dish with cake slices. Add sliced strawberries and 1 cup blueberries to thickened gelatin, and stir gently. Spoon over the cake and refrigerate 4 hours until firm. Spread Cool Whip over the dessert, and top with the remaining fruit to resemble the American flag, using the strawberries for stripes and blueberries for stars.
