Wild Amelia is an exciting 3-day festival of our bioregion around Amelia Island, which includes numerous nature tours led by area naturalists and park rangers, nature photography workshops taught by local professionals, a nature-based / green business expo, The Kids Niche nature-based activities for children, critters from the Jacksonville Zoo and more! New this year – the Starlab Planetarium! Step inside a mini planetarium and learn about the stars and planets. Throughout the weekend there are numerous eco-tours which consist of hiking, paddling and Segway excursions, along with nature photography classes and other activities. The festival is held at the Atlantic Rec Center, but if you participate in some of their other activities, you’ll see what Wild Amelia is all about! Help kick off the 7th annual Wild Amelia Nature Festival at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 17, as the Georgia Sea Turtle Center releases one or more rehabilitated juvenile green sea turtles back to their ocean home. Wild Amelia is a group of nature minded citizens, who exist to educate residents and visitors about our bioregion, and encourage stewardship of the area's natural resources through events and programs that educate and entertain, while promoting a conservation ethic.
