Major-Minor Beethoven with the Island Chamber Singers
Nov 14, 2012 02:00AM
This year the Island Chamber Singers celebrate their ninth anniversary of bringing a wide range of classical choral literature to Amelia Island. Under the artistic leadership of Jane Lindberg, DMA, the Island Chamber Singers offer quality performances and educational experiences to enrich the cultural life of Nassau County. And if you have not heard them perform yet, this weekend is your chance!
The group will be performing its fall concert, Major-Minor Beethoven, featuring two of the composer’s beloved works, Mass in C Major, Op. 86, and Fantasia in C Minor, Op. 80. In addition to some 35 or so singers, the group is accompanied by an instrumental ensemble that includes piano, string quartet, flute, oboe, trumpet, and timpani.
There are two performances, one this Friday, November 16, at 7 p.m., and the second on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. Both are held at the Amelia Plantation Chapel. Since Amelia Islanders have a genuine love for classical music, these concerts are often sold out. What impresses me about these performers is that they are community choral group with amazingly professional skills, and a sincere appreciation for classical music. I am wowed by their talent. Tickets for each show are only $15! For more information about this concert and their upcoming events, visit www.islandchambersingers.com.
