In 2006, First Federal Bank expanded its loan production business into a full-service Amelia Island branch bank. Keith Leibfried, president and CEO of First Federal, owned a home on Amelia Island and saw the potential for growth in the area. First Federal, a community bank founded in Lake City in 1962, is today a $2 billion-asset institution offering a full line of personal and business financial solutions, services, and loans.
After steady growth, First Federal and CBC National Bank merged in April 2018. The bank now has branches on South 14th Street in Fernandina Beach and on State Road 200 in Yulee. A Wildlight branch will open later this year. First Federal provides personal banking and business services, from debit and credit cards and mortgage loans to business credit lines and SBA loans. First Federal also supports local organizations through its Community Rewards Program, in which the bank donates money to a participating organization every time a member swipes a debit card for a signature purchase.
First Federal’s commitment to the Amelia Island community can be seen at many festivals, events, and fundraisers. Marketing Manager Nina Heringer explains that the Nassau County local branches are involved with Barnabas, Gracie’s Kitchen, Amelia Island Book Festival, St. Michael Academy, Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival., Southside Elementary School and the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival. “Our employees are dedicated members of the community and give their own time and resources to serve,” she says.
